Carrot coffee cnx
Old Town
08:00 - 18:00
Walking through a narrow lane in the southern part of the Old Town, I ended up at this cafe, where red brick and exposed concrete come together in a way that feels rough but intentional. From the outside it almost looks like a converted warehouse, but once I step in, the warm lighting and wood overhead make the room feel much softer and more comfortable than the facade suggests. On the first floor, people mostly seem to be talking or enjoying coffee, and the small inner courtyard beyond the glass adds a calm, almost garden-like pause to the whole space. I moved up to the second floor to settle in, and the atmosphere there felt completely different. The ceiling is high, the room opens up, and even with other people around it never felt cramped. The long desk-style seats along the wall are especially good for opening a laptop and focusing. Power outlets are placed generously, so I never had to think about battery life, and the Wi‑Fi was stable enough for browsing references and checking email without interruption. I ordered the carrot cake, which people kept mentioning, along with one of the signature drinks, Carrot No. 2. A berry-based coffee drink sounded unusual at first, but after one sip, the heavier espresso body and the bright berry note worked together in a way that felt fresh rather than gimmicky. The carrot cake was also excellent, with a clear nutty and spiced flavor that never became too sweet, so it paired naturally with the coffee. What helped most on my visit was the timing. I went on a weekday late in the afternoon, and there were no tourists around, mostly just people quietly working on their laptops. That made the whole place feel especially calm. It is not perfect, though. Some of the first-floor seats are not very practical for laptop use, so it helps to check before settling in. The outdoor terrace looks great, but during the hottest part of the day it can feel too warm for a long stay. Overall, the cafe feels like a very strong option when I want to get things done in a stylish space without losing the pleasure of a good specialty coffee. The design keeps me mentally alert, the staff are bright and kind, and the whole visit leaves me feeling better than when I walked in. On a day when I want productive time inside the Old Town, this is an easy recommendation.
